The application does not have to be submitted immediately after the birth of the child. The parental allowance is repaid for up to three months. The period for which you are applying for parental allowance must be stated in the application. The selected period can be changed later without giving reasons.<\/p><h2><strong>For how long can you receive parental allowance in Germany?<\/strong><\/h2><p>According to the regulations, the entitlement to parental allowance exists from the birth of the child until the child turns 14 months old.<\/p><p>For other people&#8217;s children, you are entitled to parental allowance for a period of 14 months from the time you take care of the child, at the latest until the child reaches the age of 8.
